DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD OF PASCO COUNTY
21st Century Community Learning Centers
(21st CCLC)
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) operate under the Bureau of Family and Community Outreach within the Florida Department of Education. The program is funded through Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) – Title IV, Part B – Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Number 84.287C.
The purpose of the 21st CCLC program is to provide opportunities for communities to establish or expand community learning centers: (1) provide opportunities during non-school hours for academic enrichment, including providing tutorial services to help students, particularly students who attend low performing schools, to meet the challenging State academic standards; (2) offer students a broad array of additional services, programs and activities during non-school hours such as youth development activities, service learning, nutrition and health education, drug and violence prevention programs, counseling programs, arts, music, physical fitness and wellness programs, technology education programs, financial literacy programs, environmental literacy programs, mathematics, science, career and technical programs, internship or apprenticeship programs, and other ties to an in-demand industry sector or occupation for high school students that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students; and (3) offer families of students served by community learning centers opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their children’s education, including opportunities for literacy and related educational development.

STAR ACADEMY
Success Through Academic Readiness (STAR)
Welcome to Pasco County Schools’ STAR Academy! The STAR Academy is an out-of-school time enrichment program for elementary school students provided at no cost to the families. Our goal is to support and prepare students for global citizenship in the 21st century by providing them with enhanced skills and tools necessary to function in a global economy. Fun, hands-on, project-based learning activities will be offered to students that will incorporate science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math (STEAM), physical activity, healthy living, and sports instruction. Homework assistance and targeted tutoring will also be provided to students by certified teaching staff in needed academic areas. In addition to providing academic and personal enrichment, the staff will build caring and positive relationships with their students serving the needs of the whole child.
Regular attendance in the program allows students to experience the entire breadth of the program offerings. Therefore, it is a requirement of participation in the program that the student attend daily and participate during the hours of operation before/after school and on full days when program is open, and school is closed. In addition, we provide quarterly adult family member education nights where topics of interest are presented in an engaging format with the goal of assisting families to have active and meaningful engagement in their children’s education. Families must attend an initial information session at the beginning of each year and then a minimum of two (2) presentations throughout the year.
