Early Release Days 2019-2020 School Year:

Students already enrolled in PLACE programs will be able to stay the extra two hours without additional charges.  Current morning-only PLACE students may attend in the afternoon without charge.  A package option for all eight early release days is available for students NOT currently enrolled in PLACE.  Students registered with this package option will not be required to pay a registration fee.  Parents who have a last-minute need for their children to attend PLACE also may register at any time PRIOR to the early release day that care is needed.  The daily drop-in fee and registration fee will apply.

Early release days will be once a month, on a Wednesday, as follows:

  • September 11, 2019

  • October 9, 2019

  • November 13, 2019

  • December 11, 2019

  • January 15, 2020

  • February 12, 2020

  • March 11, 2020

  • April 8, 2020

Q: Will child care be offered on the early release days?

A: Yes, each PLACE location will provide after-school care for all registered clients; registration must be completed in advance for any family that requires care only on early release days. 

Q: How do I register for after-school care if I only need it on the early release days?

A:  There are package options for parents who only require child care on early release days.  

  • Families that choose to enroll their elementary student(s) in after-school care at PLACE on the early release days can register beginning May 13, 2019, using this link: https://myasep.com/earlyrelease/. Registration must be completed prior to September 6, 2019. 
  • Families that choose to enroll their middle school student(s) in after-school care at Beyond the Bell on the early release days can register beginning May 13, 2019, using this link: https://myasep.com/earlyrelease/. Registration must be completed prior to September 6, 2019.
Q: What are the package options?

A:  There are package options for parents who only require child care on early release days.   

Registration packages include two options: 

  • Families may purchase a package of (8) early release days- afternoon only (non- refundable) for $160 per student.   A $30 non-refundable registration fee will be waived when purchasing a package. Packages must be purchased prior to September 6, 2019.
  • Families that need care on select early release days must register in advance of use and pay the $30 non-refundable registration fee and will be charged the drop-in (afternoons only) rate of $31 per student, payable no later than the afternoon the drop-in service is utilized.
Q: Will there be guaranteed space?

A:  Space will be available for all those that preregister.  To ensure staffing ratios, only preregistered students may attend. 

Q: Will the fees be the same for Beyond the Bell as it is for PLACE?

Q: What about STAR and DELTA programs?

A:  STAR and DELTA programs are federally funded grant programs and attendance is restricted to current registered full-time program participants.  For students who require after-school care on early release days and do not currently participate in the STAR or DELTA programs at their school, may register and ride the bus that transports students from their school to the designated school where a PLACE program is located.  Parents then pick up their student at the PLACE program location. 

Q: How will this impact children of school staff members?

A:  Children of school board employees may register for one of the early release day package options and receive a 10% discount of the fees. 

Q: What if my child’s school does not provide PLACE? What will I do then?

A:  Students who do not attend a school where PLACE is located can participate by riding the bus that brings currently registered students from that school to the designated school where PLACE is located.  Parents then pick up their student at that school.  Students must be registered by September 6, 2019. 

Q: Will school-wide tutoring sessions be available for my child during this time?

A:   No, but students attending PLACE or Beyond the Bell will receive their normal homework assistance and homework time.
